Statement of Donor Intent

The Mwamba Family Foundation is thrilled to present our “Fight For Five” campaign! We believe strongly that in creating awareness about the Democratic Republic of Congo, we WILL obtain success. Our core belief is in the vital necessity to gain knowledge starting with the youth in Congo. Education is the open door to a life full of knowledge and therefore opportunities that lead to a better way of life for one’s family as well as an entire nation.

The Mwambas have witnessed firsthand the devastation and utter turmoil that ravages the country they hold dear. They have seen children without a home, misplaced by a civil war that has destroyed a beautiful and resourcefully rich country for decades. Children as young as 8 and 9 years old are recruited by militia, who exude brutalization as these children are forced to commit abuses, including murder and rape against civilians, some are being made to kill their own family members.

The goal and objective of this family foundation is to create awareness. Most of the statistics about the Congo are staggering. Forty one percent of people in the Congo do not know how to read or write. The health care system is virtually nonexistent. The Congo remains one of the richest countries in the world as far as mineral resources, yet the people of the Congo live in extreme poverty with civil war swirling around them.

The Mwamba Family Foundation’s motivation to work in philanthropy is to make others lives better, to give back, to take action, and to motivate others to do the same. Our hope is that in future years there will remain physical and spiritual evidence of our existence. Our work will be manifest through educated youth; fully functioning school houses, athletic programs and health clinics, as well as hope and joy to all whose lives are touched by the Mwamba Family Foundation. We pledge to “Fight For Five”!

We are commited to being a voice for those that are not heard. We are committed to shining a beam of hope to those in our country that are hopeless. Letter from our President, Patrice Majondo-Mwamba Dear Friends, I am privileged to represent my family’s foundation as the chief executive officer and President of the Board of Directors, and I would like to extend to you the full intent of the Mwamba Family Foundation. I have always loved the Congo, and have never forgotten the country from which I come, and vowed to find a way to give back to the country that I love dearly. I have a firm belief that only the educated are truly free, and therefore my family's foundation intends to help in all ways possible to educate the children of the Congo. The Mwamba Family Foundation’s motivation to work in philanthropy, is to make others lives better, to give back, to take action, and to motivate others to do the same. As CEO, I intend to do my part in ensuring that all of the foundations efforts are met with positive results, and that the legacy of the Mwamba Family Foundation will, for many years to come, remain as a foundation that made a difference in the lives of the children throughout my country the Democratic Republic of the Congo.
