November 12 , 2009 Fundraiser in Dallas, Texas
The Mwamba Family Foundation is hosting its first fundraising event at Bengal Coast in Dallas Texas on November 12, 2009, from 6:00 PM to 9:00 PM. This event will also launch the “Fight For Five” campaign. This campaign was created to bring awareness to the Congo, and to encourage others to join us in this fight. The Mwamba Family Foundation believes strongly in the necessity of education. The Mwamba Family Foundation is fighting to bring education opportunities to the youth in Congo.
By providing an academy that encompasses educational and athletic talent, our students will receive a necessary opportunity to improve their lives and the lives of others. Youri Yenga now plays football for Southern Methodist University. Youri was born in the Democratic Republic of Congo and did not play American football until he was 16 years old. After receiving an opportunity to be educated in the United States, Youri is a shining example of what can happen when Congolese youth are offered an opportunity.
Papa Dia and Mouhammad Faye are both from Senegal in Africa. They are an example of what can happen when opportunities are obtained. They were given an opportunity to play in an academy that is similar to the Sports and Education Academy that will be built in Congo. Dia and Faye are a product of Mr. Gallo’s vision and are an example of determination, hard work, and opportunity.
As the Mwamba Family Foundation hosts its first fundraiser in Dallas, we look forward to creating awareness about our endeavor to build the Sports and Education Academy in Lubumbashi. We are fighting to create awareness, obliterate poverty, negate disease, gain knowledge, and most importantly obtain success!
