Letter From Patrice Majondo-Mwamba
Dear Friend,
I recently spent 5 months on the continent of Africa. I was able to spend 4 months in the Democratic Republic of Congo. While in Congo I visited a local school house in my hometown of Katanga. The conditions of the education system in my hometown left me shocked and ashamed. The conditions were beyond inadequate. They are unacceptable. I left Congo with a tremendous burden to make a change, and to make it quickly. I came to the United States when I was 20 years old. I was given an opportunity through sports to reach my dreams and goals. It is my strong belief that when the youth of my country are given an opportunity for a better education, the sky is the limit. I think BIG, and I dream BIG. Now is my opportunity to give others that chance. While visiting with the Governor of Katanga, Moise Katumbi, I told him of my vision for my foundation. He gave me his support and has pledged to help in any way that he can. I have now returned to the United States determined to make a change. The Mwamba Family Foundation has been given land to build our academy, and for this opportunity, we are truly thankful. Fight For Five is the anthem of the Mwamba Family Foundation. We are committed to taking action. While in the Congo, I vowed to the local youth that I would return in February 2010, and build the Mwamba Sports and Education Academy. Therefore, the MSEA project was born. With the support of my family and with the blessing of Almighty God, I am fighting for five! I ask that you please join me in this fight, and I thank you for your support. Sincerely,
